  • What is a HIU?

    A Heat Interface Unit (HIU) is an essential part of the efficient delivery of heating and hot water to consumers on district and communal heating schemes.

    The HIU provides safe connection of the consumer’s space heating and hot water systems to the primary heat supply network together with control functions and metering.

    Do I need to service my HIU?

    Servicing a HIU is paramount to its longevity. In fact it is recommended to do so on an annual basis by all manufacturers. Doing so is vital in maintaining your HIUs highest possible temperatures for both heating and hot water as over time filters and valves get blocked up. This results in poor flow rates which leads to insufficient heat transfer and in turn to low temperatures at the outlets.

  • What's included in a HIU service?

    During a service we will test your units primary flow rate, T1, T2 and delta T to make sure you aren’t paying any extra on your energy bills for any unused kWh which can be caused by faulty valves letting by.

    We will service your HIU along with all its mechanical valves and electronic heads. We will recalibrate thermostatic valves and actuator heads.

    Heating and hot water will be tested along with the central heating system being balanced. A service certificate will be provided on completion.
